How can I use "My Favorite Rentals"?
When you see a home or apartment that interests you, click on the gray star
that says "Favorites." Every rental you click on will be added to your My Favorite Rentals list. Rentals that have been saved in your favorites list will appear with a white star
When you are done browsing or searching, go to your My Favorite Rentals page to review and narrow down your best rental prospects for Billings and Eastern Montana. The My Favorite Rentals link is conveniently located at the top right of every web page next to the "Quick Search" box.
How can I see neighborhoods with "Street View"?
You can get a good idea of what a neighborhood is like by clicking on the map icon or address link when you are viewing a rental in the Billings or Laurel area. That takes you to a Google Map where you can click on the red icon (shown at right). Then a white box appears with a picture of the street where that property is located. Now click on "Street View" that is just below the street image. Look to the left of the window to find a set of controls that let you maneuver to see both sides of the street. Use the arrows on road to move up or down the street. This will save you a lot of time and gas money!!
Where can I get more information about Billings Schools?
We have now included links to the elementary, middle and high schools that are nearest to the rental property you are viewing on Free Rental Finder. Click on the links in the rental listing to find the school information you want. You can also find test scores, parent reviews, and other statistics for Billings area schools at Great Schools. For more information from school websites, you can go to our relocation information page.
Is there a registry for sex/violent offenders in my neighborhood?
There are several registries for sex/violent offenders in the Billings area. The first is a national directory called Family Watchdog. This is probably the easiest to use since it shows a color coded map of where registered offenders live in our area. Yellowstone County has a sex/violent offenders registry that is sorted by level of offense. You have to read a disclaimer first, then click on the search link at the bottom. When the search page appears, click the "Search" button without entering information and you will get the complete list sorted by risk level.
I have a disability. Where can I find independent living help?
Living Independently for Today and Tomorrow ( LIFTT) helps people with disabilities to live independently and have access to the community. Many of the LIFTT staff have disabilities and serve as mentors to people as they work to achieve the goals they have set for themselves. Services include individual and group training, advocacy, housing assistance, deaf services, and financial information.

Why should I order a free annual credit report?
Your credit score can be used by landlords to evaluate your ability to pay rent when you sign a rental application authorizing them to check your background. Your credit report will also show any fraudulent accounts that have been opened in your name. To insure that all accounts registered in your name are yours and in good standing, you should order a credit report every 4 months. You can do this at only one web site, www.annualcreditreport.com, which allows you to request a free credit report, once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Every 4 months, order your report from one of these 3 companies. See more information on credit and your rights from the Federal Trade Commission.
How can I tell others about Free Rental Finder?
You can use the tell a friend link at the bottom of every page on our website. You can also send a rental listing to a friend by clicking on the link that says "Email This Listing to a Friend."
Lastly, you can print our flyer and use it to tell friends where they can find Billings area rental listings online. We appreciate you passing on the word to others. This flyer is in .pdf format and is slightly oversized to print close to your margins. You may have to reduce the margins on your printer or select "Reduce to fit margins" when you print.
